Members Present: Kevin Carr, Tom Padilla, Robin Tast, Dwight Rumpel, Lee McMahan, Beth Edmonds, John Brandau and Pastor Meggan Prosser-Gebhardt. Kevin Carr called the meeting to order and Pastor Meggan Prosser-Gebhardt opened with prayer. Minutes for the March Council Meeting were reviewed and approved (Beth / Lee). Treasurer’s Report – YTD Contributions for the Worship Center Fund are $99,932.88 with expenditures totaling $78,043.84. General Contributions total $22,497.50 for the month of March with the YTD at $57,230.83. The General Fund is at $11,360.76 as of March 31, 2008. The treasurer’s report were approved (John / Lee) Property Report – March projects: Change batteries in clocks and smoke alarms, repaired roof seams, washed concourse windows, replaced bulbs, picked up lawn trash, and reprogrammed thermostats weekly. Lee showed members of the council where sidewalk on the east side of the church is in need of repair. The repair will include placing a sidewalk ramp just outside the east doors. The council recommends the Property committee to proceed with the repair and to use their judgment when choosing from the two bids. The project was approved (Beth / Robin). The council will explore possibilities regarding payment for the project. Pastor Report – Pastor has presided over Worship and Holy Week Services and the funeral service for Bill Griffin. She is also teaching confirmation and Adult Sunday School. In addition, she has attended several meetings and provided Pastoral Care to many of our shut-ins and members. Pastor, Sarah Thomas, Lloyd Pinon, Sara & Brent Schultz, Barb and Mike Keil will be attending the conference “From Dry Bones to Life-Giving Breath” on April 23-24. June 4-7th, Pastor will be attending the Synod Assembly. Starting June 9 and through July 1st, Pastor will be taking vacation. She has contacted Chaplain Michael Haar and he will preside on the weekends of June 14/15 & June 28/29. She is working to fill the other weekends during her absence. Committee
Updates – Council members provided a brief update on their respective
committees. During the Worship
Committee update, the council discussed OSLC’s communion practices.
We are in agreement to continue to commune all who come to the table.
Pastor Meggan will be having Communion Instruction for most ages in May
2008. All members are invited to
attend the trainings. Old Business – The Habitat for Humanity House had its first workday on Sunday April 13, 2008. Our Savior’s Lutheran Church had approximately 12 members help unload walls. New Business – Beth Edmonds informed the council that Wally is ready to pass on the duties of Financial Secretary to someone else. Kevin will work with Wally in finding his replacement. The next council meeting will be scheduled for Monday May 12th, 2008 at 5:30pm. The meeting was adjourned (Tom / Dwight). |
