With approximately 80 members in attendance, Kevin Carr called the meeting to order. Pastor Meggan Prosser-Gebhardt opened by having those present sing ELW Hymn # 674 “Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ” and then offered a prayer.
Minutes of the July 22, 2007 congregational meeting were approved (Lloyd Pinon / Terry Cuthbertson).
Elections of Nominating Committee – Members include Tom Padilla, Robin Tast, Tim Driggs, Ron Kassebaum, Ed Howe, Ruth Jacobsen, and Ron Willis. There were no nominations from the floor. Nominations ceased and the slate was approved. (Ane McMahan / Sally Holter)
Financial Report – Dwight Rumpel provided a brief treasurer’s report. Total general contributions for 2007 were $218,141.13. Total contributions received for the Worship Center Fund in 2007 were $90,996.53 with $35,000 in receipts already paid. The financial report was approved (Myron Dunavan / Nancy Tate).
Approval of Resolution – Mission Investment Fund – The loan was previously approved at the July 2007 Congregation meeting, however; the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA requests the congregation review and approve the specific language used in their loan contract. After reviewing, the specific language was approved. (Regina Rohlfs / John Brandau) The original loan papers were signed by the Church Council Officers and given to Bruce Krueger. A copy of the contract will be kept in the Church Council Secretary’s notebook.
2008 Budget – Kevin Carr reviewed the proposed 2008 budget. Dick Rohlfs made the motion (second by Ann Hochscheid) to increase the Central States Synod amount to a percentage, which was equal to our support in 2007. After discussion & vote, the motion was not approved. After further discussion, the proposed budget of $227,500 was approved with the Central States Synod contribution at 12.25% of 2008 annual budget. (Terry Cuthbertson / Sally Holter).
John Rothrock asked if someone was able to provide a detail on how the Benevolence Trust monies are allocated. No one present at the meeting had the information and Kevin Carr said he would forward the detail to the congregation by email, dialog, and / or bulletins.
Kevin Carr indicated the 2008 pledge campaign is equal to the 2007 campaign. He will ask the Church Office to prepare financial statements for distribution in the very near future.
Worship Center Fundraising Taskforce – Bruce Krueger provided a brief summary of the Worship Center Renewal Project.
