A majority of the fire restoration insurance claims have been submitted and no additional payments were received.
The north, south, education wing halls, library, conference room, a classroom, and sacristy cabinets have all been painted.
Lastly, Lee McMahan submitted his resignation as Property Chairperson effective with the selection of his replacement or July 1, 2008.
Pastor Report – Pastor has been attending various OSLC meetings, teaching, providing counseling and Pastoral care to members. She has presided over the Lenten Mid-week services, and Dan Roever’s memorial service.
Pastor, Sara & Brent Schultz, Sarah Thomas, and Mike Keil will all be attending the conference “From Dry Bones to Life-Giving Breath” on April 23-24. Thrivent, Central States Synod, and the CSS Parish Ministry Associate Program sponsor this conference. Pastor recommends and the council agrees to cover registration and hotel fees for all those attending. The monies to cover this will come from undesignated benevolence trust.
In recent months cars have been broken into while in the church parking lot. Judette Padilla has provided signs, which can be posted on each of our doors reminding people to “Lock it, Remove it, or Lose it”. After little discussion, the signs will be posted.
Lastly, Pastor recommends and the council agrees to hire Vicki Edwards permanently for the position of Administrative Assistant. Pastor will finalize the hiring process with Vicki. She will be hired to work from 9am – 3:30pm, five days a week at $12.00 / hour.
Committee Updates Brent Schultz joined our meeting to discuss recommendations from the Evangelism Committee. He provided the council with drawings of a Welcome Center and an Information Center. The Welcome Center would be located on the concourse with it purpose to provide information to all to attend Our Saviors. The Information Center would be in the Fellowship Hall with its purpose to provide information to members. The information center would have a box for each member of our church as well as council members, committee chairs, and an area for signup sheets. After discussion, the council recommends the committee finalize the plans and get an estimated cost for the two centers. They would like to see these two areas completed by the 50th Anniversary this fall. Brent left after his presentation.
Council members provided brief updates on their respective committees.
New Business – Becky Kester from Habitat for Humanity will be joining us this coming Sunday to update our congregation about an upcoming build.
John and Kevin discussed an opportunity the church has at buying back our computer hardware for $100.00 from the insurance company. The council agrees and the Technology Committee will oversee where this hardware is to be placed in the church.
The next council meeting will be scheduled for Monday April 14th, 2008 at 6pm.
The meeting was adjourned after praying the Lord’s Prayer. (Kevin / Dwight). |
