EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES September 2007
Members Present: Kevin Carr, Tom Padilla, Robin Tast, Dwight Rumpel, Lee McMahan, Beth Edmonds, John Brandau, and Pastor Meggan Prosser-Gebhardt.
Kevin Carr called the meeting to order and Pastor Meggan opened with prayer.
Minutes for the August Council Meeting were reviewed and approved (Dwight / Beth).
Treasurer’s Report – The General Fund decreased by $444.51 during the month with an ending balance of $8,295.93. Worship Center Fund received contributions of $6,085.18 for the month. General Contributions received during August totaled $15,264.50, which was less than our monthly projection of $18,488.00. YTD receipts totaled $134,163.36.
The treasurer’s report was approved. (Beth / John)
Property Report – August projects: Filled pothole, repaired Fellowship Hall chair, sealed sheet rubber roofing, replaced front lighting timer, obtained estimate for property improvements, watered bushes, sprayed for bagworms, moved lawn, picked up lawn trash, replaced light bulbs, sprayed for weeds, reprogrammed thermostats weekly.
The security report provided by Lee was reviewed and we discussed what to do when those listed on the Security Alarm call list received a phone call.
Lee announced there are four new members to his committee and they are Ron Gauerke, Andy Corcoran, Ron Kassebaum, and Jim Oestreich. They will have a meeting on October 1st, 2007 at 6:30pm.
Pastor Report – Pastor has been busy attending various meetings, providing counseling and providing Pastoral care to members. She indicates her office hours are 8:30-2:30 Monday through Thursday with Friday being her day off. She has asked Chaplain Michael Haar to preside over services during the last weekend of December 2007.
Committee Updates Council members provided updates on the following committees: Adult Education, Christian Education, Evangelism / Outreach, Fellowship, LYO, Social Ministries, Staff Support / Personnel, Technology / Communication, and Worship. New members are always welcome at any of the committee meetings.
Those council members attending committee meetings found the meetings very informative, well organized, and committee members were receptive to what council was accomplishing with this process.
Old Business Kevin provided a very brief update on the Building project.
New Business The Strategic Planning Committee is still in the formation stages.
Kevin is looking for members to be on the Stewardship Committee this Fall.
There will be a Leadership / Planning retreat for all council members and committee chairs. The date is October 20th, 2007 at Berryton Grange.
Pastor’s spouse John Prosser-Gebhardt has taken a job and has an opportunity for insurance for his family. This plan would cost less and provide better coverage than what is offered through the ELCA. Dwight Rumpel, Tom Padilla, and Kevin Carr have agreed to review with Pastor her options & her compensation package regarding this issue.
Dwight will be sending an email to all committee chairs asking them to submit their 2008 budgets to him by October 31st, 2007.
The next council meeting will be Monday October 8th, 2007 at 6pm.
