Celebrate 50 Years of Sharing
In commemoration of the 50th
Anniversary of Our Savior’s Lutheran, Social Ministries will be sponsoring
"50 Days of Sharing." For 50 years, a major focus for our church
has been sharing our gifts and talents with the community.
So for 50 days, beginning August 9, and
culminating with the anniversary celebration on September 27-28,
each of us will have the opportunity to share in our own way. Each day
will offer a different opportunity to be involved. Our hope is that each
member will be able to participate in some way.
Sharing may include making monthly donations of
items for Doorstep, Topeka Rescue Mission, or Quinton Heights School; care
packages for the military; volunteering at a local school; making items
for the fall Bazaar; bringing a friend to Sunday School; or visiting a
homebound member. This list is endless, but the point is that every member
is encouraged to participate in some way.
Likewise,
each group is encouraged to choose a day to participate. For
example, Sunday School may choose Rally Day to share in a special way.
Social Ministries hopes that each group will consider how to participate
in this meaningful project. Please contact Sandi Kassebaum
(862-7499) or Roberta Oestreich (273-0659) with your ideas, so we
may include them in our plans. Watch the Social Ministries bulletin board
as we anticipate "50 Days of Sharing."
Fall Bazaar
Work sessions for the Bazaar in March
will be held on Thursday, May 8, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and on
Thursday, May 22 from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. There are lots of jobs to
do and we need your help!! So, please do come at those times to Room A in
the south education wing.
The Bazaar this year will be held on
Saturday, October 18, and the Social Ministries Committee has
decided that the proceeds will benefit the Marian Clinic with matching
funds from Thrivent.
Also, please note that we will soon
have tea towels ready to embroider. If you can help in this way,
please call Charlene Swanson at 272-3518 or e-mail her at dcswan1@cox.net.

end the bidding on May 4. Thrivent will provide matching funds.
