Our Mission: Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is a worshiping and caring Christian community, sharing God’s compassion and grace with all people in need of love and acceptance within this congregation, the community and the world.
Lutherans believe in the Triune God. God created and loves all of creation — the earth and the seas and all of the world’s inhabitants. We believe that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, transforms lives through his death on the cross and his new life, and we trust that God’s Spirit is active in the world.
We are part of God’s unfolding plan. When we gather for worship, we connect with believers everywhere. When we study the Bible or hear God’s word in worship, we are drawn more deeply into God’s own saving story.
The convictions shared by Christians from many different traditions are expressed in statements of belief called creeds.
These ecumenical creeds that Lutherans affirm and use in worship confess the faith of the church through the ages and around the world.
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States. We’re part of a 4.2 million-member church with 65 Synods (geographical areas) that covers all of the United States and the Caribbean.
Our geographical area (Synod) is called the Central States Synod. Our synod includes 160 congregations throughout the entire states of Kansas and Missouri. The synod is divided geographically into five conferences each represented by a dean who serves as a liaison between the bishop’s office and the congregations in that conference.
The ELCA is a part of the Lutheran World Federation. The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is a global communion of Christian churches in the Lutheran tradition. Founded in 1947 in Lund, Sweden, the LWF now has 148 member churches in 99 countries all over the world representing nearly 77 million Christians.
